e-Box, the new solution of The Mail Company for the management of private shipments (e-Commerce) in corporations and office buildings
The reception of the personal parcels (e-Commerce) that employees receive in their workplaces is an increasing phenomenon that is supposing both an extra expense for many organizations and a management challenge for many mail services that are not sized to face it, neither logistically nor technologically.
A phenomenon that only increases. According to data from last July of the National Commission of Markets and Competition (CNMC), e-commerce in Spain touched 40,000 million euros in 2018, 29% more than in 2017, with a number of transactions, during the fourth 2018 quarter, of more than 205 million, 33.2% more. And with the forecast that these figures will increase during 2019
So much so that a few years ago in more mature markets in e-Commerce, such as the British, some large corporations such as HSBC, Citigroup or JP Morgan decided to directly ban private shipments that their employees received at their London offices. This happened in 2015 and they did it until they found a solution that did not clash with the application of a measure of reconciliation and retention of talent that many companies are betting on today.
To respond to this need, The Mail Company launches its e-Commerce management solution in corporations and office buildings to the e-BOX market. The only solution on the market that is independent, comprehensive and integrated.
Independent, integral and integrated solution
e-BOX is independent and integral because it allows to manage any expedition, regardless of who the seller (Marketplace) or the carrier (transport agency), compared to other restricted market options.
It is also integrated because it is part of the exclusive GIO mail management technology, created entirely by The Mail Company, which guarantees full traceability, security and control of the shipment at all times, in addition to all the procedures to effectively manage the different scenarios that can occur. Therefore, with e-BOX, e-Commerce flows are fully integrated into the mail logistics designed by The Mail Company (or the e-Reception solution in the case of smaller properties) from which they are managed Reception, Deposit and Collection processes, solving in a simple and effective way something in which a wide supply chain is involved.
How does e-BOX work?
The e-BOX solution consists of the installation of independent lockers (in areas of easy access for users and inside the building), connected to the management platform of The Mail Company (GIO). Each incoming package is registered in the system, which automatically assigns a QR code and a location in the locker.
The recipient immediately receives a notification (via e-mail or sms) with the assigned code, which allows him to open and conveniently pick up his package. This provides total security in the process, eliminates the possibility of loss and discharge of work or responsibility to the areas of Facilitiies (Mailroom, Reception, etc.). Along with this, the lockers have a modular layout, with lockers of different sizes, and can be used within the operating hours of the property
Another great advantage of e-BOX is that the lockers can be placed inside the client’s facilities – since the solution is integrated into the internal logistics processes of the property, as we have indicated – with the corresponding advantages: greater accessibility and more security as it prevents potential theft and damage, in addition to those derived from inclement weather.
Luis del Barrio, Director of External Relations at The Mail Company points out that “the mail stores of many companies are not sized to manage the e-Commerce they receive throughout the day. e-Box solves this situation since it is the most efficient and safe way to deliver personal shipments to the employees and it will be something more and more necessary if online sales continue to grow at the current rate in our country, where they have not yet reached maturity.”
